HTML5 new elements and features
HTML5 is the fifth and most recent major version of the HyperText Markup Language (HTML), the markup language used to create web pages. HTML5 introduces a number of new elements and features, including:
- New semantic elements that make it easier to mark up the structure of a web page, such as <header>, <footer>, <article>, and <section>.
- New input types for forms, such as <input type=”email”>, <input type=”search”>, and <input type=”tel”>.
- Support for audio and video, including the ability to embed and play audio and video files directly in web pages.
- The canvas element, which can be used to draw and animate graphics on the web page.
- The geolocation API, which allows web pages to access the user’s location.
- The history API, which allows web pages to keep track of the user’s browsing history.
- The drag-and-drop API, which allows users to drag and drop elements on a web page.
- The web storage API, which allows web pages to store data locally on the user’s computer.
- The web workers API, which allows web pages to run code in the background.
- The WebSocket API, which allows web pages to communicate with a server in real time.
